Since its inception in 2017,
Rowing Blazers has become the go-to destination for preppy streetwear, elevated collegiate essentials with a contemporary twist, and of course, buzzy collaborations. Who can forget its recent collection with Gucci? Or how about its on-going collab with Warm & Wonderful, the brand behind Princess Diana’s legendary black sheep sweater? Now, the NYC-based label is adding yet another high-profile partnership to its ever-growing list of collaborators: Target.
Available starting September 23, the new, limited-edition Target x Rowing Blazers collection will consist of more than 100 sport-inspired pieces across adult and kids’ apparel, as well as accessories, home, outdoor play, and pets. Featured styles include classic rugby shirts, colorful crewnecks, patterned double-breasted blazers, check trousers, and statement jackets galore, many of which can be customized with chenille letters, numbers, and graphics to your liking. Better still, the capsule—which will be available in an inclusive size range of XXS-5X—will start at $5 on Target.com and in select Target stores, with most items under $30, making it one of Rowing Blazers’s most accessible collaborations to date.
“I wanted the collection to be quintessential Rowing Blazers, as this will be the first introduction to the brand for so many people,” Rowing Blazers founder Jack Carlson tells T&C. “I wanted to lean into the classic American collegiate aesthetic, but to do it in a way that feels fun and inclusive rather than stuffy—that’s what Rowing Blazers is all about.”
As for some of his favorite pieces? It’s hard to choose, he says, but the outerwear category—which includes a high-pile “roses” fleece, bright orange duffle coat, and camel polo coat—is definitely one to keep an eye out for. Another must-have: the rugby shirts. “We used a painting of rugby shirts by a good friend of mine and a brilliant artist, Brian Nash, as a print throughout the collection, which you’ll see on a rugby shirt, of course, baby onesie, tie, trinket dish, and more,” says Carlson. “But I think my favorite part of our collection with Target is that the pieces are easy to mix, match, and personalize with the patches that we made for the collection. They came out so beautifully.”
While shoppers will have to wait a few more weeks for the collection, Rowing Blazers gave T&C an advanced peek at the lookbook ahead of the launch. Here, a firsthand look of what to expect from the Target x Rowing Blazers collaboration as you plan your picks.
