Taylor Swift has forged herself as a modern day style icon. However, it appears the trendy songstress might have just taken another style cue from Princess Diana herself. Well, sort of.
Yesterday, Swift was spotted arriving at Electric Lady Studios in New York City wearing an oversized Shania Twain t-shirt that read “Any Man of Mine” from Daydreamer with black biker shorts, green ruffled crew socks from Free People, and chunky New Balance x Ganni sneakers. She complemented the sporty look with a Louis Vuitton Camera Box Bag and Still Here dad cap.
The ensemble was practically reminiscent of the late Princess of Wales’s go-to transitional fall outfit: the oversized crewneck sweatshirt/biker shorts combo with crew socks and white dad sneakers. (Or as T&C likes to call it, Princess Diana Outfit Season!) Throughout the ‘80s and ’90s, the royal style was spotted on numerous occasions wearing the casual cool look with collegiate sweaters and neon biker shorts.
Swift’s take on the look was clearly very similar, except instead of the sweatshirt, she opted for a tee—likely because the weather has been over 80 degrees in New York over the last few days.
This isn’t the first time the popstar channeled Princess Diana. While promoting Red (Taylor’s Version) on Late Night With Seth Meyers in 2021, Swift appeared to pay tribute to the princess with a black off-the-shoulder David Koma minidress with long sleeves, similar to Diana’s iconic revenge dress.
Regardless of whether Swift’s Diana references are intentional or merely just coincidence, suffice it to say we’re 100% here for the Taylor Swift x Princess Diana style mash up.
